The Dutch Development Cooperation, existing under the auspices of the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation (DGIS), has recently revised its priorities and approach to international development aid. The following principles are central to its current approach and funding: bottom-up support for poverty alleviation; institutional development; closer links between emergency aid, reconstruction and transition aid, and development aid; improved social and governmental capacity; greater regard for cultural factors; and further cooperation among the ministries and international aid agencies. The 17 countries in which DGIS focuses its assistance are: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Macedonia, Mali, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen, and Zambia. http://www.wis.cgiar.org/wisard/shared/asp/generalinfoserver/intermediate.asp?InstitutionID=2616 |
