Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DANIDA) Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DANIDA)
Mission:

Danish development policy is based on the Act on the International Development Co-operation of 1971, most recently amended by Consolidated Act no.541 of 10 July 1998. The Act lays down the goals for governmental co-operation with developing countries. The overriding objective of Denmark's development policy is to create lasting improvements in the living conditions of the poorest sections of the world's population through poverty reduction. The way to reduce poverty is to give people rights and access to social, economic and political resources.

ICT Focus:

Although DANIDA has no defined programme for ICT and development, it does claim that 'Developments in technology are providing entirely new conditions for co-operation across borders and continents', and wishes to make the most of the new opportunities.

Programmes:

Over the last decade, Danida haas undertaken:

  • 24 radio projects in developing countries.
  • 4 television projects in developing countries.
  • 1 information centre in South Africa
  • 1 specific ICT project in Central and Latin America with funding of 150,000 DK
