The British Council The British Council
Mission:

The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for educational and cultural relations.

ICT focus:

The Council 'is committed to the development of open and thriving information societies worldwide.' It works in partnerships with organisations in the UK and around the world to ensure that the UK plays an international role in this field.

Programme activities:

The British Council has organised a number of major conferences including the recent "Ethiopia in the Knowledge Age" Conference. One of the major objectives of this conference was to bring together major Ethiopian stakeholders to develop a national ICT strategy.
