Democracy, social equality, peace and security are important objectives of the programme.

ICT focus:

SIDA promotes the exploitation of opportunities presented by ICTs and also supports international initiatives such as Bellanet, GKP and infoDev.

Programme activities: include:

  1. grant aid to facilitate telecommunications sector reform, including opening of markets to private sector participation and the introduction of independent regulation;
  2. small-scale investment in infrastructure in rural/poor areas;
  3. training initiatives in communications sectors, both by grant aid and within Sweden.
