The centre international pour le development de l'inforoute en francais (CIDIF) is a non-protit organisation dedicated to monitoring and promoting the development of internet technologies, and to disseminating related strategic information.

ICT Focus:

CIDIF advises the international French-speaking community on information technology applications, particularly in the field of education.

Programme activities:

• Naviguer En Francais. The web pages of the "Naviguer en Francais" project provide a clearing house for locating French language material on the internet and its use.

• La Boite a outils. The aim of CIDIF "boite a outils" (Toolbox) is to promote the distribution and use of French language software for the internet.

• La Metarepertoire. CIDIF "Metadirectory" is a one-stop shop for searching the internet. It presents links to most of the French language search engines, including indexes, thermatic directories, and combinations of the two approaches. Also, included are tips on basic searching techniques, a complete collection of French-language tools, and informative files.

• Le Detour. Follow the "Detour" offered each week to explore a new and exciting corner of the French language web.

• Les inforoutes dans l'espace francophophone (the information highway in the French-speaking world) is an exhaustive survey and progress report produced by CIDIF in cooperation with the Argence
  de la Francophonie. It is intended as a decision-making tool to support multilateral coopertion amongst French-speaking countries. To compliment this document, CIDIF carries out a variety of studies and statistical analyses, and offers an ongoing serious of technology briefings.

• Le Refi. The Reseau electronique francophonie international (REFI) offers hosting and support services for non-profit francophone organisations wishing to establish themselves on the internet. Organisations that are already wired have the opportunity to vastly increase their visibility by joining REFI's electronic listing of francophone organisations and associations. Housed on a powerful server in the domain "francophone.net". REFI also tries to insulate its members from technical difficulties so that they are free to concentrate on content.
