Mission: Bellanet is an international initiative whose mission is to increase the impact of development programming. It fosters inter-agency collaboration through more effective use of information and communication technologies. ICT focus: Bellanet's stated Program Objectives are as follows: - to build organisational capacity in the use of ICTs for international development collaboration;
- to identify and solve problems hindering effective collaboration;
- to identify, share and apply lessons learned and best practices.
Bellanet services include ICT policy advice, partnership brokering, needs assessment, knowledge management, list hosting and facilitation, assessment of hardware/software requirements, and provision of custom web-based tools for collaboration, along with the training and support required to use them effectively. Programme activities: include GK-AIMS, online resource for GKP (Global Knowledge Parnership) partners. Funding: Bellanet is funded by IDRC, the Rockefeller Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, UNDP, SIDA, DGIS and CIDA. Partnership: Bellanet is governed by an International Steering Committee, and carries out its mandate through a small secretariat based at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Ottawa, Canada. http://www.bellanet.org/
